Robert 'Jake' Jacob passed away on September 10, 2018, in Astoria, Oregon. Earlier that year, I was privileged to assist Jake with
his is memoir, I Wouldn't Recommend This: What Not to Do Spring Term of Your Senior Year in College.
In Jake's words: "My story begins at the University of Oregon when I was a successful student of architecture, and where a single
college bet altered the next few years of my life. This book is not for everyone. It is raw and honest. It is how I remember it. Even
though this was a bizarre time in my life, I hope you find humor in my unexpected journey."

Just Movin' the Water Around
Much of this book is anecdotal, a retelling of the author's personal fishing stories and of other fishers who, in the
1970s, "slipped off the sands of Cannon Beach" in 20-foot-long dories seeking salmon, coho, cod, rockfish and
crabs. Also included is a brief history of dory fishing, a dory glossary, a list of captains and their boats, and
numerous photos. Peter Lindsey hopes this book will preserve a measure of this vanishing fishing way of life once practiced in Cannon Beach.
